Smokey Signals a March Medal Win

ONLY eleven players turned-up for the March Monthly Medal last Sunday on the Longreach Links — and when we have small fields in Medal events, generally it will be a smoky that rises to the top.

Again it occurred, with Wayne Little signing for a 71 nett.

Wayne played consistent golf to finish on top of the leader board ahead of the fast finishing Tony Dixon with 72 nett on a count back from Bobby Harding and Randall Ravenscroft.

Randall was a red hot favourite after nine holes, firing a 33 off the stick and looking the peach. Unfortunately he crumbled under pressure and limped into fourth place.

The dead-eye dicks on the pins were Randall on numbers 4, 7 and 18 and Tony on number 11 and who also collected the Eagles Nest within one metre of the pin.

Remember, the Longreach Open has been postponed due to the coronavirus and the committee has decided that it is in all participants’ best interest to postpone the Open.

Sunday will be a 4BBB Stableford (draw for partners) teeing-off at midday.
