Show Society AGM sees new president
The Longreach Show Society has welcomed a new president in the lead up to next year's event.
MANY INTERESTING new ideas were shared at the Longreach Show Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Friday, but the highlight of the evening was the induction of new Show Society President, Mary-Ann Ringrose.
Ms Ringrose has been on the Longreach Show Society Committee for several years and has an extensive background in event management.
“I got involved when one of the state sheep shows were on, organising a luncheon for that,” she said.
“Then I got involved in the committee for the show from there.
“I’ve been the Vice President for a couple of terms – and I’ve sort have morphed into the role from there.”
Ms Ringrose said going into next year, locals can be excited for another show of well organised entertainment.
“We have a really great committee who are positive and keen to be involved,” she said.
At this year’s AGM, there was a larger crowd than in previous years.
“It’s not often we get a crowd like that,” Ms Ringrose said.
Nonetheless, the Show Society is still hoping to get more volunteers for the event next year.
“We welcome any volunteers,” Ms Ringrose said.
“It’s a big event and we aren’t really flush with people.
“So a lot of the work can be left to only a few people.”
