Taxis back on the rank
ALTHOUGH Covid-19 restrictions have limited the service’s use, Longreach Taxi returns after a month-long hiatus, a move that has been welcomed by the local community.
Longreach Taxi indefinitely
discontinued the service from March 24 due to coronavirus concerns as the taxi
deals exclusively with face-to-face contact with a multitude of people.
Owner of Longreach Taxis, Ray Penny, said the decision to re-open the service was made for the benefit of the community and with all health precautions in place.
“Longreach Taxis will adhere to all the Covid-19 restrictions currently in place,” Mr Penny said. “Whatever the legislation says, that’s what we will do.
“This means that only one person or people from the same household can travel in the taxi at any one time. Hand sanitiser will be available and it is strongly advised that it is used per trip.
“We are still adhering to a strict cleaning schedule to provide a safe experience for everyone. Please remember to respect our drivers and if the trip is not essential, just stay home.”
